I always dreamt that my prince charming would come and wept me off my feet. I did see my prince charming. It was Claudio; I felt love at first sight with him. I know Claudio can make me the happiest woman in the world. I hope and pray that I can become a good wife to him. I know he will treat with respect; he will always love me. I can see us having lots of little Claudio running around. My love for Claudio blossom every day, I know I can make him the happiest man in the world. I want my wedding to be one of the most beautiful weddings. I want my father to be happy about the man that chose me to be his wife. I hope our home is as beautiful as our wedding.
I really don’t know what happen on that faith full day. I fainted half way through the drama. I only remember Claudio accusing me of being a whore. He bashes me in every word. He destroys my good name. It hurts me so bad because he is the one who told he loves me and he wants to make me his wife. I have always been true to him. I love him more than life itself. He accuses me of sleeping with another man in front of my father, family, and friends. He was not man enough to come to be before our wedding day. He waited till the wedding ceremony to accuse me of not being a maiden. I was too shock and heartbroken about the situation. I lost a lot of respect for Claudio, Don Pedro, and Leonato. They are the one who cause me so much pain. My father blames me for disgracing his family and his name. Men are just pigs; they don’t really care about anyone but themselves.
Sometimes I wish I was like my cousin Beatrice. I never told her that but I do. She is strong and witty. She doesn’t let any man walk over her. Now I am alone without a husband or a father. I have to suffer because Don John is jealous of his brother and Claudio. I never did understand men and I don’t think I ever will. I wonder sometimes was it a good faith what had happened to me. Now I just sit back and think and say to myself, I was too much of a good woman for him any way. Well that is what I try to tell myself to block the pain. I love him and he hurt me so bad. I want to hate him believe me; I tried to hate him but my heart won’t let me. I cry myself to sleep every night asking myself how and the why questions. My heart is full of rage, love, sorrow, and anger. I gave him my heart, mind and soul. He just stomps on everything. All he left me with is a broken heart. Will I ever truth, and love again only time will tell. I went from being excited and anxious about my wedding day to heartbroken and in tears. I still have a lot of hurt in me but I also have a lot of anger and frustration. Matter of fact I am piss off.

Essay Hamlet

Dear Dairy,
I really do miss my husband, however, I cannot let my son or my people realized I am mourning over the lost of my husband. I am the queen of Denmark I am suppose to be strong not weak. My people should not see me weeping for my husband, how they will respond towards their queens weeping. I have to be strong for my son sake also. He needs a strong mother to stand by him. What happen to my husband is tragic but everyone don’t live forever, they evenly die. I cannot wait the rest of my live without someone to love me and hold me.
I have to move on for my sake, my son sake, and my people’s sake. “Do not for ever with thy vailed lids Seek for thy noble father in the dust, thou know'st 'tis common; all that lives must die, passing through nature to eternity” (Act 1 Scene 2). I have always felt an attraction to Claudius he makes me feel so alive and unique. He is very striking and charming. He loves me like no other man did. Not even my husband Hamlet. I am in love with Claudius. I know I am wrong for marrying my husband brother and I also disappointed my son, but I am happy with Claudius he makes me feel like a woman when we are together.
I would never intently do anything to hurt Hamlet. I love him and my son. Everyone feels that I was a conspirator towards his death but I could not harm a hair on his body even if I wanted to. It hurt so badly because I can see the pain and sorrow in my son eyes every time I look at him. He feels I have disappointed him and that I had something to do with his father deaths. Maybe I am being selfish right now about marrying Claudius because I am just thinking about myself but being with Claudius relaxes me from missing my husband. I am innocent I would never kill my husband for my own benefits.
Oh my I don’t know what else to do my son just kill Polonius right in front of me. Did I drive my son into insanity? I cannot understand what have become of my son. Everyone around me is dying. I cannot believe my ears my son speaks to me without any remorse. He has such anger and frustration towards me. “What have I done, that thou darest wag thy tongue in noise so rude against me?” (Act 3 Scenes 4). I wonder why my son is asking me so many questions. He has gone mad; I wonder what is going on through that head of his. He has such a harsh tone with me. Did he forget that I am his mother? I don’t really know what will happen next with my son or in Denmark. I do know that nothing will ever be the same again. So much pain and dishonesty have been going on in Denmark. I feel I lead my son to this point in his life.
I feel I did have a hand in everything that happens in Denmark. After my husband Hamlet death everything went downhill. Nothing was the same. Claudius was the man I felt in love with but I ask myself did I lead him into killing my husband or did he marry me because of power or maybe he just wanted both. My son was right all along Claudius killed his own brother how blind could I have been. I am so sorry for everything. I never meant to hurt my husband and especially my son. Hamlet is full of so many emotions hurt, pain, lost, anger, frustration, and revenge. I know he will kill Claudius for what he did to his father. I know him especially mad because Claudius married me. My future does not look too bright any more I have cause too many pain and I cannot stand to see the pain in my son eyes, it just tears me apart. I don’t see the point of living anymore everything I loved and cherish is gone from me. For some reason I don’t feel well I feel very weak. My eyes are very blurry. Oh no I have been poisoned (weeping) before I say my last farewell I would like to finish off by saying please remember me as being a blind fool in love. I love my husband and son with all my heart and soul. I have served Denmark well with every fiber in my body. I am only human and we all make mistakes. I just want everyone to remember that we only grow by learning from our mistakes. To my dear son Hamlet I love you and please remember I would never do anything to intently hurt you (kisses). Farewell everyone…………..

Love,
Gertrude

BLOG 12
This was my first experience working with blog. I never actually had a blog nor did I never think about creating one. To be honest if it was not for Dr. Ximena I would of never created a blog profile or think about working with blogs. My experience working with blog at first was very difficult and frustrating because while trying to create my profile I was still in the process of learning how to create a blog. After a while doing my blogs became very enjoyable for me. I love putting up my blogs because I love reading others comment about my essays and blogs that I posted up. I like their feedbacks because I am very interested in what others have to say about my opinions on Shakespeare.
Writing a blog entry was helpful because answering the questions made me think deeper about the Shakespeare plays. I look at blog as a very effective and supportive tool. It was not hard to write 250 words there are a lot of details and questions when reading Shakespeare books. Plus I am use to writing more than 250 words because I have other writing intensive courses. At times it was very hard for me to meet the deadline because I had a lot of research to do in my other classes and plus I was not always around my computer.
There should always be a deadline because that is how you get everything done on time. I don’t think there is a better way to set up for the deadline because it was really my schedule that was in the way of me finishing my blogs on time. I was trying to work around my schedule for school. However, maybe changing deadlines from morning to night would be a better option for others because usually in the day time it is very heck for some. I gain a lot of knowledge and experience working with blogs. I had a great time interacting with others about their blogs and I all so got to see what the professor thought about my ideas on Shakespeare.
Well it’s kind of hard to compare blog with my other courses because I never did anything like blog before. With my other courses I usually write my paper and only my professor gives me comments and feedback. With blog I get a change to receive feedbacks from my classmate and others. I would like to keep on blogging because it is a good way to show others my ideas. I would like to also keep in contract with my classmate to see if they add anything new or how they feel about blogging.

Jane Lapotaire as Lady Macbeth, in this scene I see a lot of emotions from Lady Macbeth is worn up inside after the brutal killing of so many people. She has a lot of fear, desperation, guilt, anguish, depression, grief, weariness, and panic. The scene is very sad because all of her bad deeds are catching up to her now. Jane Lapotaire is a very good actress. She could have done a better job portraying Lady Macbeth.

Dame Judi Dench as Lady Macbeth is an amazing and talented actress. Her scene was astonishing; her portrait of Lady Macbeth was brilliant. I actually started crying with her. The darkness of the room makes the scene even better. Dame Judi Dench had a lot of emotions in this scene, nervousness, remorse, torture, hopelessness, sorrow, disillusionment, and dread. I was really captivated by her. I love the scene the tears downing her cheeks, her body movement, and the way she spoke her lone. I give Dame a dumb up she is a wonderful actress. I actually felt like crying too and that is what a good actress should do make you feel like you are in the play. She made a lot of emotions swirl inside of me.

Shirley Everett singing "Unna macchiato รจ qui tutor!" Lady Macbeth's aria from Giuseppe Verdi's Macbeth is good. Even I really did not understand her, she could have done better. I really did not see a lot of emotions in this scene, exhaustion, gloominess, and misunderstanding.

What is a man? Every man should have some of these qualities in them.
1. Confidence
2. Ambition
3. Courageous
4. Patience
5. Witty
6. Understanding
7. Guts
8. Clever
9. muscular
10. heroic
11. straight forward

Macbeth poses some of my qualities of a man. He has courage, heroic, and guts because he is not afraid to fight in any battle. He a very strong man and he shows that when he is fighting in the war. When Macbeth fights he fight without any remorse. He has no mercy for his victims. He feels that he is untouchable. He is very brave and courageous when it comes to defending his honor. He is witty because she tries to outsmart others. Macbeth is very confidence begin a good king. Macbeth wants to be in power. I think he is very power hungry. He is very ambitious he never wants to maintain at the same level. He wants to become an even greater person, he demands respect. However, for the most part Macbeth lack in a lot of some other qualities too. For instance he is very ignorant; he has no patience, and no understanding. Those some of the reason for his down fall. He was not patience he wanted to be crowned the king. He felt it was his faith to hold that position.

Othello Essay
D. I have always felt that I have never read a more terrible exposure of human weakness -- of universal human weakness -- than the last great speech of Othello. What Othello seems to me to be doing in making this speech is cheering himself up. He is endeavoring to escape reality; he has ceased to think about Desdemona, and is thinking about himself.
--T. S. Eliot (1934) from Elizabethan Essays.
I disagree with T.S. Eliot I felt Othello was very strong, courageous, and brave. He over came a lot of obstacles in his life. Othello never showed weakness. Othello was a solider in the beginning of the play. He fights battles to protect his country. He had been through a lot of military battles and war fare. He married Desdemona even though she was not in his category. Othello enter wars not only for himself but for others and the love he has for Desdemona. He was a noble man; Othello was a tragic, romantic, and heroic man.
Othello downfall was that he allowed Iago to manipulate him into believing that Desdemona was having affair with Cassio. Othello trust everyone and that was one of his downfalls. He believes everyone is fair and honest. He allowed his better judgment to get the best of him. Othello felt he was doing the right thing by killing Desdemona. Othello felt he was protecting every man from Desdemona. Othello was thinking with his heart and not with his mind. He loved too hard that’s what I believed. Everyone makes mistakes, he is only human. When someone is deeply in love they don’t think with their brain. There heart over takes their better judgment.
Othello last speech was remarkable. Reading his speech brought me to tears. He poured out his heart and soul. He was a true man, everything he did he felt was for the good of mankind. I love his speech and Othello will always be remembering as a noble and wise man who allowed a fool to influence him. His last words were not to cheer him up, but to admit what he did was wrong. He listens to a fool and now the love of his life is dead. Othello wanted everyone to remember him not as a murder but as a general of their country who did good deeds. Othello stated, “Speak of me as I am, nothing extenuate, nor set down aught in malice, then must you speak of one that loved not wisely but too well”.
Othello wanted to confess everything before he took his life. Othello dying is not about escaping life. He dies because he could not bear to live without Desdemona. Desdemona is Othello light. She is the reason for breathing and waking up every morning. Othello loved Desdemona with all his heart and soul. I felt Othello could not be able to with himself knowing that he let his ego over take his better judgment of Desdemona. However Othello was far from weak. He was a hopelessly in love fool.

I don’t agree with the decision that Hamlet made because I don’t believe in taking another human being life. However being that it’s a Shakespeare play I would have taken both of their lives. On the other hand, I do understand where hamlet is coming from with his decision. Hamlet feels betrayed by his own friends. If hamlet did not make the decision to kill both Rosencrantz and Guildenstern he would have been the victim. He made the decision to kill or be killed. No one wants to lose their life so of course the decision will be very easy to make. Rosencrantz was in love with Ophelia he wanted to be the one she marry. Claudius, Polonius, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern wanted to get Hamlet out of the way. Hamlet realizes that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were not the most honest friends he had. They would trade his friendship for money. He did have a right to kill them because their purpose for wanting Hamlet dead is because they were being very greedy.

The decision that Hamlet made about killing his friends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, really defines what kind of character hamlet really is. He is very witty, dangerous, and no one should cross his path. When it’s necessary Hamlet never runs from a battle. That makes him a very strong person. Hamlet is the kind of character that you always need to keep an eye on. He very sneaky about his plans and he are not afraid to put them in action. It just goes to show us that never judge a book by its cover. Hamlet may seem unwise but he is very smart, strong, and very clever.

Claudius feels hamlet was pretending to be insane. The king is suspicious of Hamlet from the very beginning. Claudius thinks Hamlet is just putting on an act. Claudius stated, “Madness in great ones must not unwatched go.” He still is not completely convinced of Hamlet's madness so he is cautious. Claudius feels Hamlet is not mad but faking his insanity. Claudius is constantly on his guard because of his guilty conscience and he therefore recognizes that Hamlet is faking. He denies Hamlet permission to return to university so that he can keep an eye on him close by. He feels Hamlet just wants to go away for school. When Hamlet starts acting strangely, Claudius gets all the more suspicious and sends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to spy on him. Claudius was so threaten by Hamlet that he sends Hamlet to England, because he wanted Hamlet killed. The reason Claudius is so reluctant to believe that Ophelia's rejection has caused Hamlet's lunacy is that he doesn't believe in his madness at all.

Gertrude at first didn’t believe in Hamlet insanity. She felt he was faking and she can see right through him. However, after talking to her son she felt more comfortable about her son situation. During their conversation Gertrude takes everything that’s coming out of Hamlet mouth seriously. Gertrude respects Hamlet and his decisions. Even Gertrude felt Hamlet was upset about the rejection of Ophelia loves that brought her son to insanity. Gertrude blames herself for the actions of her son Hamlet.
Even Polonius feels that Hamlet is not really insane. Polonius also realizes that some of Hamlet conversations do not really make any sense. For example in Act II, Polonius asks Hamlet,” Do you know me, my Lord?” Hamlet replies, “Excellent well, you are a fishmonger”. After the confusing conversation with Hamlet Polonius wonder if Hamlet was really nutty or was there a method to his madness. Polonius felt it was the rejection of Ophelia love that brought Hamlet to insanity. When he found that it was not the rejection of love he decided to hide out in Gertrude bedroom to easy drop on Hamlet and his mother conversation.
Ophelia really does not think Hamlet is insane. However, she had a change of heart when Hamlet goes from telling her he loves her, to telling her that she is a whore and he does not love her. In a letter to Ophelia, Hamlet declares his love by saying "doubt thou the stars are fire, doubt that the sun doth move, doubt truth to be a liar, but never doubt I love." I could understand why Ophelia was very confused because Hamlet is playing with her emotions. Maybe Ophelia feels Hamlet don’t really know what he wants from her. Hamlet turns around and acts with complete coldness at their next meeting. Hamlet accuses Ophelia of being dishonest, “I did love you once I love you not if thou dost marry, I'll give thee this plague for thy dowry is thou as chaste as ice, as pure as snow, thou shalt not escape calumny, and get thee to a nunnery.” When asked by Polonius, her father, whether she thinks Hamlet is "mad for thy love?” Ophelia answered, "I truly do fear it." Ophelia fears that Hamlet has really gone off the deep end.

From Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet (Branagh as Hamlet)
Kenneth Branagh’s portrayed of hamlet was believable. Kenneth really exhaustion of hamlet was very interesting. He made himself felt like he was really hamlet. The music in the back ground make the scene even more excited to watch. I like the way he approach the mirror. The knife in his hands made him look dangerous. I love his appearance. It’s something about his blonde hair, and his all black cloths that make him just pop out of the scene.
From Kevin Kline’s Hamlet (Kline as Hamlet)
I like Kline scene, even it seem very dead. His actions said a lot. He remained me of a person on drugs. He hands was always wrap around his waist while he was talking. His movement made me wonders about a lot of things. For example his state of mind, is he nervous ECT. Kline seem like he had a lot of grief, gloominess, and sorrow.
From Tony Richard’s Hamlet (Nicol William as Hamlet)
I was not favorable of Richard’s part as hamlet. I felt he could have done a better job. However the scene was ok. Richard looks very dirty in the scene. He seem very terrify, rage, fascination. He reminded me of a homeless person searching for food. Their determination of finding money or something to eat gets the best of their ability.
From Franco Zefirelli’s Hamlet (Mel Gibson as Hamlet)
In the clips Me Gibson was showing a lot of frustration, irritation, misery, and gloomy. Mel Gibson is a very talented actor. I love the scene when the tears was forming in his eyes and he pause for a few seconds. Mel Gibson makes the scene very realistic for me. I would not wait to hear what else he had to say. The area for the scene was perfect. His attire was amazing and it makes the scene more interesting to watch. I love his body movement. He falls to his knees and them he started to walk around. He never stood still. He was always moving about. He had so much affection and desire in his eyes.
From Yukio Ninagawa; s Hamlet (Fujiwara Tatsuya as hamlet)
Even though I could not understand a word Ninagawa was saying I love his action of the play. I thought he was very funny. The way he kept on jumping from fence to fence. He came out scaring. He was just silly to me. The scene was very interesting to me anyway. At first I thought he was just nuts and funny. The scene was scary everything was black and the big fences around him. He started to yell at his friends. I really like the music in the back ground.

Dear: Diary
Journal 1
Sometimes I wish my husband can acknowledge my being here for him. I love Iago but he does not respect me or my love I have for him. My husband has been asking me to retrieve Desdemona’s handkerchief for him. I do not know why he requires the handkerchief but maybe it will be of good use for the both of us. I only had my chance to seal Desdemona handkerchief now I will make my husband the happiest person in the world. I thought if I stole Desdemona handkerchief for my husband he would treat me with more respect, love, affection, and appreciation. Maybe our marriage will more equal. I love my husband but at times I wish he could treat me with respect, love and compassion.
Journal 2
My loyalties are with my husband. He asks for something of me and I will deliver on to him. Maybe giving Iago our love will blossom in something beautiful.

Essay on Much Ado About Nothing

Nickeisha Gray
Essay on Much Ado about Nothing
October 7, 2008
Dr. Ximena Gallardo C
Since centuries ago women have always been consider weak and emotional. Society were supposed to be obedient to their father and after that to their husbands, but always submitted to the wills of males around them. Beatrice is the play's witty heroine. Beatrice is a prime example of one of Shakespeare's strong female characters. She refuses to marry because she has not discovered the perfect, equal partner and because she is unwilling to eschew her liberty and submit to the will of a controlling husband. When Hero has been humiliated and accused of violating her chastity, Beatrice explodes with fury at Claudio for mistreating her cousin.
In her frustration and rage about Hero's mistreatment, Beatrice rebels against the unequal status of women in Renaissance society. According to Shakespeare Beatrice stated, “O that I was a man for his sake! Or that I had any friend would be a man for my sake, I cannot be a man with wishing, therefore I will die a woman with grieving" (IV.i.314-320). Beatrice has a quick tongue and a sharp wit. She is never at a loss for snappy come-backs, spiced with truth, which she shuttles back and forth in verbal words.

Beatrice is presented to us as a woman who fights against social impositions. Possessed of such artillery, she is not intimidated by the authority of the Governor or the status of the Prince. She charms, captivates and stimulates. She was a very independent person, and didn't want to rely on anyone for support. She also was very smart.
Another characteristic of Beatrice was that she was very emotional. Beatrice is really vulnerable. She often changed her mood all of a sudden for no apparent reason. Also, Beatrice kept many of her feelings inside her. Sometimes she would be angry but wouldn't show it, because she always had to feel strong, and look like she didn't need anyone. Beatrice is an intelligent woman, a woman who does not follow social conventions and is able to interact with men as an equal expressing her own opinions. She is presented as a woman who men cannot control. At the beginning of the play Beatrice positions herself against marriage because she does not want to form part of the mount of arranged marriages without love that filled society at her time. She refuses to marry because she has not found her true love, the perfect man that loves her for what she is and not for her money or social position. She is a woman character that rebels against women position in the patriarchal society and claims for an equal status of sexes.
If Beatrice was to ever become a man. She would be a very aggressive man. She was already aggressive and resistant when she was a female. Her out view on men, she feels men can get away with anything. They mistreat females whenever they want. She will defend her believes to the end if she has to. She will slather Claudio for what he did to her cousin and any other men who gets in her way. Beatrice becoming a man means trouble because she feels men are consider very dominated, persuasive and aggressive. She would have to fight for her honor every day.

For years now women have been the back bones for men. The only problem is they still don’t realize how women are important to the society. I can feel the anger and rage that Beatrice is going through. I would love to see Beatrice as a man and in what ways would she go about trying to accomplish the unfairness of women.

Iago attitude towards women

Nickeisha Gray
Dr. Ximena Gallardo C.
October 16, 2008
Othello, Shakespeare
Iago is a very selfish person. Iago only see his self in his eyes. He considers women to be very talkative. He feels he should be in power and control everything and everyone. He has no respect or morals. . Iago is a man who hates women, for he shows no love or sympathy to women as he constantly slanders them of things they didn’t do or even think about. Iago’s murder of Emilia could also stem from the general hatred of women that he displays. He certainly seems to take great pleasure in preventing Othello from enjoying marital happiness, and he expresses his love for Othello frequently and effusively. It is Iago’s talent for understanding and manipulating the desires of those around him that makes him both a powerful and a compelling figure
Iago’s opinion on women is that he detests women in all kinds and shapes, and finds faults even when they have little or no faults. Further on Iago comes to Brabantio’s house and says to him that his daughter has been stolen, rather than saying she ran away with Othello. He thinks of women property of men. In act 1 scene 1 line 80 Iago states,” Thieves, thieves! Look to your house, your daughter and your bags”. He implies that women (generalizing) talk more than they should, and that they don’t know when to stop. They are very lazy when it comes to housework however when it comes to their needs (desires sexually) they are not lazy. The main reason why Iago’s attitude towards women is not the best is due to the fact that women have no strong morals and that they are easily persuaded by other men, this is when he sees Casio kiss his wife. He also think that the women are untrustworthy and they do whatever they have to do even if it means to hurt ones feeling. He also believes women talk useless maters.Based on Iago’s behavior and attitude he thinks that women are of lower class to men. He sees them as sexually active creatures, and untrustworthy to their husbands, and that they don’t have feelings about anyone else except them selves.
According to Iago women are good when they are outside of their homes but once they enter the home they are worse than devils, Iago’s sneering attitude towards his wife and women in general is indicated once again. His use of the word ‘picture’ which denotes that out of doors the women are silent and pleasant to look at. He states,” Come on, Come on: you are pictures out of doors, bells in your parlors, wild cats in your kitchens, saints in your injuries, devils being offended, players in your housewifery, and house wife’s in your beds". In addition to the statement Iago stated we come to know that women act like saints even when they injure others. He also Says, ‘They are lazy around the house except that they are active in their bed’, suggesting that they are like prostitutes.
Further on He refers Desdemona as a guinea hen, which denotes a whore. Iago gives a description of his wife to Cassio who just had given her a greeting kiss to Emilia. He describes Emilia as a talkative person that she can’t keep there trap shut. He implies that all women have to open their mouth for everything. Iago states that I n Act 1 Scene 1. “Sir, would she give you so much of her lips, as of her tongue she oft bestows on me you’d have enough”.
Iago felt any man who was in love with any women was a fool. Iago tells Roderigo that he shouldn’t be an inane man to even think of taking his life for a female. Iago stated, “Ere I would say I would drown myself for the love of a guinea hen; I would change my humanity with a baboon”. Act 1 Scene 3 Line 310. Again this reveals to us that Iago says that he would never drown himself for a female, he rather change his humanity with a monkey which is totally degrading because he sees a monkey more fit than women. Iago felt that no man who chase after a female. He felt Othello was weak because he had lust and love for Desdemona.

Benedick and Beatrice

Benedick is a nobleman in the court of Don Pedro. He is very arrogant but shows himself to have a good character during the "wedding" scene, as he is the only man apart from the Friar who implicitly believes Hero. His pride does not allow him to admit that he loves Beatrice, but at the end of the play, Beatrice and Benedick agree to marry.
